Depot at dawn, cart by six.

Carts run out of milk mid-morning, and the supplier's ledger and the cart owner's count are kept on different pieces of paper.

Each delivery is a slip with the litres, kilos and cart name, signed by the cart owner at the door, and any shortfall is written on the slip.

  1. OrderThe cart owner orders by the evening before.
  2. LoadThe wholesaler loads and counts the quantities.
  3. DeliverThe van arrives and the owner counts at the door.
  4. SettleShort or returned items are settled on the next slip.
